Baroque architecture in the center
- modern living in holiday apartments at Vietri sul Mare
During the Baroque era, the craft experienced an upswing. The shining majolica cupolas along the coast have since then been something like a hallmark of the Amalfitana. The 19th century was the time of the “piastrelle”, the richly adorned floor tiles which are found in many of the older hotels.
From the point of view of artistry Vietri experienced its most significant period between the two World Wars, in the form of migrant labor. In the 1920s, German artists such as Richard Dölker and Irene Kowalski-Wegner came to the Amalfi Coast, where they found inspiration, work and favorable living conditions.
At Raito, which is located above Vietri, the medieval tower houses an interesting ceramics museum, where traditional products and artistic works are on display.
Marina di Vietri
- a charming neighbor
You are staying at a holiday apartment in Vietri sul Mare? Then you are sure to go for a swim in the Mediterranean Sea! The sandy beach of Marina di Vietri and the clean, turquoise colored sea are perfect for swimming and relaxing.
The “faraglioni” of Vietri are two rocks rising up out of the sea and called the “two brothers” because they look so much alike. According to legend, it was Poseidon himself who put the rocks there in remembrance of his two brothers, who gave their lives to rescue a young girl from the sea.
